LET STUDENTS FINISH WHAT THEY STARTED.
America's student-visa system has long followed a simple rule: if an international student is admitted to an American university, is vetted and monitored, and continues to follow the rules, they can remain in the United States for the duration of their legitimate program.
The Trump administration is now replacing that straightforward system with fixed admission periods and a new cumbersome, expensive, and unreliable extension process. Despite tens of thousands of public comments urging the Administration to improve—not discard—a system that has helped keep America the world’s leader in higher education and innovation, the Administration is moving forward anyway.
That's not a better system. It's one that will drive talent away from America at a time when other nations are competing to overtake our position as the #1 destination for the world’s best students.
A student shouldn't have to worry that an arbitrary paperwork deadline—not their academic progress—will determine whether they can finish a degree.
A university shouldn't have to divert resources for students who are already complying with the rules and just want to continue their education.
And 8 out of 10 Americans think we should be welcoming international students. It makes no sense to impose unnecessary, cumbersome government processing when a simpler system already works.
Enforce the rules. Track compliance. But don't create red tape and arbitrary barriers for people who are following the law.
Let students finish what they started.
Keep Duration of Status. Keep America competitive.
Now it’s time for Congress and the courts to act.
Take Action: Invoke the Congressional Review Act to Pass a Resolution of Disapproval of the final rule that damages our economy and makes us weaker.

Contact your congressional delegation to urge them to invoke the CRA and to support legislation that would help us to compete for, not lose out on, foreign student talent.
